DC HEALTH CHECK — ONE-WEEK BASELINE FIELD GUIDE

Start with one building and seven consecutive calendar dates, in that building's local time. These are blank, header-only CSV templates. The fictional examples live separately under sample/.

SHIPMENTS.CSV
One row per completed shipped order:
- order_id: a stable, redacted order identifier. Do not include customer names.
- ship_date: the final ship date for that completed order, YYYY-MM-DD.
- units: non-negative whole units shipped for that completed order.

If an order shipped in parts, first decide its completion date, reconcile its parts, and put its total units on one row. Do not blindly remove repeated IDs: they can be legitimate split shipments. Exclude canceled/unshipped orders from this completed-order measure. Preserve original exports for reconciliation.

For the browser worksheet, group these rows by ship_date. Count orders and sum units for each date. Fill all seven dates; a confirmed closed/no-output day is 0, not a blank.

LABOR_HOURS.CSV
One row per day and agreed direct department:
- date: paid work date, YYYY-MM-DD, matching the same building and date window.
- department: pick, pack or ship (or Pick/Pack/Ship if the agreed data is already combined).
- hours: total PAID hours for that day/department, including paid overtime hours ONCE. Include the agreed paid time consistently; do not substitute scheduled hours.
- rate: optional effective actual cost per paid hour for that row. Use matching actual labor cost divided by paid hours. Include recorded overtime premiums. State whether this is wages only or fully loaded cost, and keep that basis consistent. A base pay rate alone may understate cost if overtime premiums apply.

If you do not know the matching cost, leave rate blank. Never treat missing cost as zero. A confirmed closed day can have hours 0 and rate blank. Any cost without hours needs a separate review.

For the browser worksheet, group by date and sum hours. If cost is known, sum each row's hours times its effective rate, then enter that actual daily cost in USD. The browser asks for DAILY COST, not an hourly rate. It does not estimate or add an assumed rate. If you have actual cost totals directly, use those instead of calculating from rates.

WHAT THE BROWSER COMPUTES
1. Units per direct paid hour = total shipped units / total direct paid hours.
2. Direct labor cost per completed order = total direct labor cost / total completed shipped orders.
It divides weekly totals; it does not average daily ratios. A zero denominator displays needs data. Blank or invalid required daily inputs withhold the weekly report. Incomplete optional cost withholds only the cost metric.

Fictional worked week, 2026-08-31 through 2026-09-06:
4,000 completed orders; 9,600 units; 640 direct paid hours; $12,800 direct wages including any overtime premiums.
9,600 / 640 = 15.00 units per direct paid hour.
$12,800 / 4,000 = $3.20 per completed shipped order.
The sample CSVs contain 4,000 synthetic order rows and seven daily labor rows. The example uses a $20.00 effective cost per paid hour throughout. No real customer or employee records are included.

SCOPE AND LIMITS
This is a baseline for discussion. Work mix, receipts, returns, timing and incomplete exports can change the ratios. It provides no external benchmark, staffing recommendation, causal diagnosis or guaranteed savings. It cannot validate your source records or confirm the completeness of your entries.

No file is uploaded by the starter. Data is entered and calculated in your browser without sign-in or payment; no entries are stored by the page. Download the one-page result before leaving. The starter does not import these CSVs: they give you a repeatable source layout for preparing daily totals or requesting an optional human review.

OPTIONAL HUMAN REVIEW
Free Flow Snapshot: one building, one recent week, two redacted shipment and labor CSVs, up to 10,000 combined rows, one page, up to two supported metrics and up to three next checks. One free Snapshot per business; scope, data fit and a real review slot agreed first. No card or purchase obligation. Delivery within 72 hours after the agreed slot starts and usable data is accepted.

For a wider question, the full Flow Scan is $500 and separately scoped. Start at https://dchealthcheck.com/#start. That form asks about your question; do not send files before transfer and data-handling terms are agreed. Remove employee names, personal identifiers, addresses and payment data from exports.
